EVEN IN POOR ECONOMIC TIMES, SOME PLACES FARE BETTER THAN OTHERS.

Before looking at the house, let's take a look around the property. A few years ago, we gathered lots of local wildflower seeds, threw them around and let Mother Nature take care of landscaping the property.

WE HAVE ORANGE, GOLD, YELLOW AND WHITE POPPIES ALL GROWING WILD IN THE YARDS.
I've never seen another almond colored poppy.

I NAMED THIS COMBINATION OF POPPIES, ICEPLANT AND CACTUS...BEAUTY AND THE BEAST.
The poppies volunteered, the cactus has a green body, bright magenta flowers when in bloom and large spines. The lavender iceplant complements the others.
WHEN IN FULL BLOOM, THESE FLOWERS WILL CURL UP LIKE A SCORPION'S TAIL AND THAT'S HOW THEY GOT THEIR NAME.

Trees and shrubs are on a semi-automatic watering system.

VETCH, ROCK AND GARDEN SPINACH.

When we're in Columbus, we have year-round gardens. The winter gardens are very water conservative with the covered beds recycling water that condenses on the covers at night dropping back into the beds during the day. I'm usually very busy during the summers but Celinda's garden is capable of feeding us, with some left over for friends and neighbors.

APPARENTLY BIRDS BRING SEEDS IN AND WE DON'T KNOW WHAT THE PLANTS ARE OR WHERE THEY ORIGINATED.
Maybe someone can identify this one. If so, please contact me through the website e-mail.

LOOKING OVER THE BACKYARD FENCE.
The fence was built from telephone wire spools the company was going to burn. A few years back a developer had some roads cleared and they dozed a dozen or more barrel cactus into piles. About half of them survived our salvage efforts and are now in the RV Site.

ICEPLANT IN BLOOM NEXT TO THE SOUTH WALL.

There's a large desert willow just to the right, out of the picture, and growing out of the iceplant.

NOW THAT WE'VE SEEN SOME OF THE PROPERTY, LET'S TAKE A LOOK AT THE HOUSE AND RENTAL UNIT.
